Recipe Contests : Good or Bad for Food Bloggers?

We are not very sure if food bloggers enjoy participating on contests. Do contests help food bloggers promote content? 

Do you find them useful / useless / good / bad / fun / annoying?

I like to participate in contests.  It fuels creativity and makes you think outside the box.  So I find I develop good content and have fun!
